A GARN® Unit in Operation

A GARN® WHS 1500 unit at the factory ready for shipment:

A GARN® WHS 1500 unit installed inside of a building:

The GARN® WHS unit operating. Notice that no smoke is coming out of the door. This is the result of utilizing a draft inducer blower that draws air into the combustion chamber through the loading door when the door is open. Therefore, no smoke in-the-face of the person loading the unit! This unit had been operating for approximately 4 months before these pictures were taken.

The picture below shows the horizontal flue of the operating GARN® unit. Notice the lack of a grey-brown exhaust that is typical of many outdoor units. Grey brown smoke is unburned fuel (CO, creosote, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc) and is indicated by a long tail of color that can extend for hundreds of yards. Grey-brown smoke indicates low combustion efficiency and a hazardous level of pollutants.

The white exhaust is primarily water vapor as a result of the moisture in the wood and the combustion process. Water vapor plumes evaporate quickly, usually within a 20’ to 100’ of the exhaust (dependant upon the outdoor temperature and relative humidity). An exhaust plume of water vapor indicates high combustion efficiency and very clean combustion.
