Finally, after passing many of the same hurdles most on the site here have crossed themselves, such as, getting the basic design/sizing of the system worked out, passing the building permit reviews, and overcoming parts delivery issues, the heat from the GARN 2000 is of today pumping into the house - it's great not to hear the oil burner anymore. The system is not automated yet, but the controls should be in place over next few days.
This has been so far the most enjoyable DIY project that I've taken on. Some of the activities it has involved so far include the roles of: architect, mechanical engineer, carpenter, insulator, drywaller, taper, painter, labourer, back-hoe operator, bricklayer, heavy equipment mover, pipe fitter, tin smith, first aid parametic, electrician, & marriage counselor (my wife is a saint for her patience ('Oh, I suppose you'll be out working on the GARN again.")).
I want to thank those who have posted here and on hearth.com - the information gleaned was truly helpful and an encouragment on those long lonely nights banging away at the thing.
I hope to post pictures soon - where is the most convenient location for folk to get access to them?
